CHERRY WITH SPRING FLOWERS 2004

The artificial stream running into the pond was planted with mainly heathers but also gentians and some primulas.

When Sandy and Dianne moved into Gorno Grove in 1993 there was only a small garden in front of the house, but there was a field of about six acres and a paddock of one acre.

In 1994 some 800 trees were planted and the 25 metre diameter pond was also created. The tree planting was designed not to restrict the magnificent views to the west and the north and the south.

In 1995 Rhododendrons and Azaleas were planted in the south paddock and also three Himalayan Birch trees. Many daffodil and narcissus bulbs were also planted in the south east corner.

Pond

The pond was “naturalised” by placing variegated grasses and bullrushes around the fringe. Four different willows were planted south of the pond.

Further plantings have continued and there is now another rhododendron bed in the south west corner of the main garden.

There are grass pathways through the trees.
